MT4 vs MT5 as a sender — practical differences

By Priya V. · · 84 votes · 3 comments · 3024 views

Both work fine. Differences: - MT5 reports trades faster (it has a real position model, MT4 just has orders). - MT5 handles partial closes natively. On MT4 we synthesize them. - If your provider is hedging (multiple opposite positions on the same symbol), MT5 sender is much cleaner.

Confirming Tradovate-as-sender is not a thing — asked support last month, same answer.

Good shout on rotating secrets. I now treat them like API keys.
